“Openness leads me to experiment fearlessly, and what some might consider mistakes, I embrace as valuable lessons”
“Scenes that capture my brush are characterized by the serenity and innate joy they evoke.”
As an artist, my work is a dynamic exploration of mixed media on canvas, where I primarily employ acrylic, various paint mediums, and sculpting pastes. My journey involves a diverse array of tools—predominantly the palette knife, though I often venture into using unconventional tools to instill interest and depth within my compositions. My abstract expressionistic style emerges in a vivid tapestry that often includes themes such as herons, diverse wildlife, serene lake scenes, birds perched collectively on a wire, purely abstract concepts, and, of course, HaPpY the Ostrich. Complementing these canvases, I engage in color studies rendered as soft pastels on paper.
The selection of my subject matter is an emotive process, heavily influenced by my mood at the time. In instances of commissioned work, the subject is generally predetermined, requiring me to blend my vision with existing ideas.
Scenes that capture my brush are often characterized by the serenity and innate joy they evoke—qualities I seek to transmit through my art. Inspiration flows from myriad sources: a deep connection to God, the encompassing beauty of nature, and a desire to evoke joy and smiles through my creative endeavors.
Technique sets uniqueness in my art. I frequently begin with a primed canvas, devoid of a fixed plan, allowing for organic development as my ideas unfold. This openness leads me to experiment fearlessly, and what some might consider mistakes, I embrace as valuable lessons or opportunities to discover innovative techniques. It is this adaptability and willingness to explore that not only defines my artistic journey but also shapes the uniqueness of each piece I create.
